Mexico is one of 12 megadiverse countries in the world, accounting for between 60% and 70% of the total biodiversity worldwide (Mittermeir and Goettsch, 1997). Thus, the neccessity to achieve a sustainable development these biological resources makes it important to know the aht species are living in the many different areeas and to not disrupt the balance of their delicate ecosystems.
Objectives
a. RainTrust will monitor the spatial and temporal distribution of the vegetation of Mexico in order to determine its annual and seasonal behavior and thus, to detect changes for a better understanding of the ecosystems in Mexico throughout the seasons;
b. To design a specific methodology to identify vegetation types using on-groiund sensors working swith realtime satellite imagery through the different seasons over many years.
c. To collect this data and create an understanding of these biodiverse regions so we can continue sustaining these natural habitats for years to come.

RainTrust Global Net's satellite and on-ground monitoring technology is being prepared to be used in many areas around the world including not only forests but for coral reefs as well. The following areas are currently being developed as next steps as we continue forward.
